You may have seen or heard reports in the media following a recent article in the Lancet questioning the value of Atenolol (also a part of Co-tenidone) as a treatment for blood pressure.
We have reviewed this and while taking the findings seriously do not feel a single paper should lead to us abandoning the use of a drug that has had the confidence of specialists for 30 years.
We urge all our patients to continue taking their Atenolol as usual but to see us for the regular reviews we advise, when all drug treatment is reconsidered in the light of latest evidence.
